PROJECT
Part of a whole-house renovation
Two rooms. Two distinct personalities.
Reconnecting the primary bedroom to a formerly separate guest wing opened up new possibilities for the entire suite. With a larger primary bathroom in a new location, two existing bathrooms could take on a more useful role: individual dressing rooms, each shaped around the person who uses it.
A new purpose for familiar cabinetry.
The small bathroom directly off the primary bedroom had felt cramped and offered little privacy. Moving the bathroom made it possible to turn this space into his closet.
Cabinetry from the bedroom’s original closet was retrofitted for the new room, providing drawers, shelving, and hanging storage. The former closet location became the recessed bookshelves now seen in the primary bedroom gallery.
Warm wood, brass hardware, and bird-and-foliage wallpaper give the compact room a layered character of its own.
Character in every corner.
Wallpaper follows the room’s changing planes, bringing birds and foliage alongside the exposed timber beams. The combination connects everyday storage to the house’s distinctive architecture and the clients’ love of whimsical detail.
Designed for life—and the dressing table.
Her dressing room was once the bathroom serving the separate in-law suite. Its finishes were dated and worn, and its position directly across from the new primary bathroom made it redundant.
All-new custom cabinetry was designed around her life as an actress, with open hanging space for elaborate costumes and a well-lit vanity for hair and makeup. Drawers and open shelves make room for the smaller pieces of her wardrobe, too.
Pink cabinetry, bird-patterned wallpaper, and warm metal details give the room an expressive, personal atmosphere.
A place to get ready, entirely her own.
Decorative drawer pulls and the floral chair seat bring another layer of pattern to the vanity. Globe lights frame the mirror, while nearby shelves keep jewelry and accessories close at hand. These details give a practical daily routine the same attention as the larger rooms of the house.
These dressing rooms form part of the larger Bird & Bramble House renovation. Explore the adjoining primary bedroom and the new bathroom that made this reorganization possible.
